- Interview with F1 Software
- @2*3
- Editor: @5Andy Kellett
-
- @6*2
- What your name?
- @5
- Andy Kellett.
- @6
- Could you describe your company and the important people of the
- company?
- @5
- The company name is F1 Software. I own the company, and am pretty
- much the only employee. I get a lot of help and Inspiration from my
- good friend, Paul Burkey, who has had games such as Simon the
- Sorcerer II & Foundation published rather recently. We often meet up
- in UK for beers and curry @1=)
- @6
- Since when do you work on/with the Amiga?
- @5
- I've had an Amiga for a number of years, it's been about 8 years
- since I started to code on them, before then I just played games.
-
-
- @6*2
- Do you work together with other groups or companies?
- @5
- Not directly, the only person I really work with on other projects is
- Paul Burkey, we are working on a couple of things right now.
- @6
- What kind of software do you produce?
- @5
- Usually games and utilities. It's normally a combination of the 2
- that I produce, with games being finished much quicker than a
- utility.
- @6
- Why is your developing software for the Amiga, and not for the
- Macintosh as example?
- @5
- All of the sources I work on are 100% compatible to PC and Mac
- machines, without any problems. As newer platforms come out, such as
- AmigaDE, with a little bit of work, it's possible to make the sources
- compile there too. I doubt I will ever make a piece of code that is
- purely for one machine again.
-
-
-
-
-
- @6*2
- What is your latest product and what are your plans for the future?
- @5
- Our latest product is AmiBud, an eBay client for Amiga, and AmigaDE
- machines. We are also working on a couple of things for the new
- Amiga PDA, AmiBud should also work on that when it is released for
- DE.
- @6
- What release you the next weeks?
- @5
- Our PDA stuff will be public knowledge by then, I can't give you any
- details on the nature of the stuff for the time being.
- @6
- What are your favourite games for the Amiga?
- @5
- Best game ever made for Amiga was Turrican, by Manfred Trenz. Still
- play it on a regular basis. Sneech, by Paul Burkey, is also another
- of my favourites.

- @6*2
- Is it your main job to work for the Amiga, or is it just a hobby? If
- it is a hobby - what's your main job?
- @5
- At the moment, it's a part time job. As things are progressing now,
- I'm spending more and more time working on stuff, and not just for
- Amiga. In the next couple of months, I will be working on things on
- a full-time basis, that will greatly affect the new Amiga.
- @6
- What kind of things (software, hardware, and so on) are you missing
- for the Amiga?
- @5
- Amiga didn't have an eBay client, and I used a PC one for a long
- while, even helped contribute ideas and stuff to another one, and so
- I thought I would have a go at creating one of my own. No one else
- has tried one for the Amiga yet, so I hope to be the first.
- @6
- Your software, for what kind of processor do you develop: 68k or
- PPC?
- @5
- There will be 68K versions, and a PPC is possible, though the
- application should work on Classic Amiga good enough as it is.
-
-
-
- @6*2
- Will you support the AmigaNG in future, or do you work on a project
- like this? If yes, please tell us about.
- @5
- It should be supported, I don't see any reason why not.
- @6
- If the AmigaNG is available, will you still support the classic
- Amiga?
- @5
- Yes, to a point. Games will be 060 and above, PPC etc.
- @6
- Will you transpose a PC-game to the Amiga?
- @5
- Yes, have been working on a number of ports for quite some time now.
- @6
- Will you release other projects on other platforms?
- @5
- Yes, my limitations are not just to Amiga machines, I will release PC
- and Mac applications also.
-
-
-
-
- @6*2
- Think you that the OS3.9 are the right way or it is better to close
- the Amiga Classic with the OS3.5 and make only a new OS for the NEW
- Amiga?
- @5
- Classic AmigaOS is very outdated, until they make a new ROM to go
- inside the different models of Amiga, they aren't really giving much
- more than just a face-lift to what is already there. I think a new
- ROM is the way to go if they want to keep the classic OS alive.
- @6
- Have you a homepage? what's the URL?
- @5
- http://www.mushy-pd.demon.co.uk
- @6
- Is it better to reach you by e-mail or snailmail?
- @5
- Email is preferred. If you wish to contact us via snail mail, you
- can do so by writing to:

- @6*2
- Do you like the AmigaFuture magazine?
- @5
- Haven't really read it enough to comment that much, interviews have
- seen one copy briefly from a while ago, interviews don't get a hold
- of many international magazines.
- @6
- What do you think about those long and troublesome interviews? @1 :)
- @5
- Interviews are OK in short doses, I don't do too many of them, as
- they take a lot of time to complete.
- @6
- What would you like to say to the software-pirates?
- @5
- Look out!
